Protostar is a stage in evolution of a young star before nuclear fusions begin, it can last 100,000 years or even up to 1 million years depending on the weight of the star. A protostar is surrounded by a dense surrounding of gas and dust that stops visible light, but allows through large amounts of infrared and microwave radiation. By Joel Restuccia.
